I want everyone to be able to use this website, including people who use a keyboard, a screen reader, zoom, or who prefer less motion. My goal is to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA, in English and in French.
What I have done
- Every page works with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline and a link to skip to the content.
- Images that carry meaning have text descriptions; decorative ones are hidden from screen readers.
- Text and buttons have strong colour contrast, and text can be enlarged.
- If your device is set to reduce motion, the home page story is replaced by a calm version with the same content, without scroll animation. The website also works without JavaScript.
- Form fields have labels and clear error messages, and buttons and links are large enough to tap.
- The whole website is available in English and in French.
Known limits
The home page tells its story with scroll animation. Everything it says is also available as text, and the calm version shows it without motion.
On the home page, you can press and hold to turn on the shop's lights. You don't need to: the lights also come on as you keep scrolling. On a keyboard, hold the Space or Enter key; screen-reader users can activate the button directly.
The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile against spam. It usually works without you doing anything; if it ever blocks you, please call, text or email me instead.
I check the website with automated tools and by using it with a keyboard, but it has not had a formal outside audit.
